SwimmingLifeguard Swimming areas at Taconic State Park Copake Falls are lifeguarded. Swimming season dates are subject to change based on lifeguard availability. Weekend swimming begins the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. Swimming days expand at the end of June and continue through Labor Day. Swimming hours are between 11am-7pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The Ore Pit Swimming area goes from 8ft-40ft deep. A swim test is required for children 12 and under to swim in the Ore Pit. An adult must accompany children 10 and under in the water who have passed the swim test. Flotation devices, including life jackets, are not permitted in the Ore Pit. In addition to the Ore Pit, there is a wading pool area suited for non-swimmers and small children.
FishingOK Fishing permitted; Fresh water fishing enthusiasts will delight in hooking rainbow trout in the old iron ore mine pit.
DogsLeash A maximum of two pets are allowed in campsites and day use areas unless prohibited by sign or directive. Pets are to be supervised at all times and must be crated or on a leash not more than 6-feet in length. Proof of rabies inoculation shall be produced if requested by staff. Pets are not permitted in playgrounds, buildings, golf courses, boardwalks, pools and spray-grounds or guarded swim areas/beaches (this does not apply to service animals).
