About this place

Small (~2.5 acre), quiet resident beach in the Southport section of Fairfield. The Town's official Rules & Regulations state that no person may light, kindle, or use any fire on any Town beach, park, marina, or open space except in receptacles installed for this purpose — Southport has no installed grill receptacles (unlike Penfield, which explicitly provides charcoal grills), so bringing a private propane or charcoal grill is effectively prohibited.

SwimmingLimited Swimming is allowed at Town beaches in designated areas only. Swimming at South Benson Marina and Ye Yacht Yard is prohibited.
FishingLimited Fishing or the cleaning of fish in any Town designated swimming area is prohibited. Fishing from the docks, ramps, and banks bordering the South Benson Marina is prohibited, except that area posted for fishing. Fishing from the docks at Ye Yacht Yard is prohibited.
AlcoholPermit No alcoholic beverages are allowed on Town parks, beaches, marinas, or open space without the express written permission of the Parks & Recreation Commission or Conservation Commission, as appropriate. Additionally, the consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited on Town marina gangways, platforms, and parking lots. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on Town or school fields and will result in cancellation of the permit.
DogsLeash Dogs and horses may enter beaches, open space areas, and marinas only under specific conditions. Dogs and horses accompanied by a person responsible for them shall be permitted to enter any Town beach only during the period from October 1 to March 31. At all other times dogs and horses are forbidden to enter any Town beach, including the parking areas for such beach. When permitted to be on a Town beach, dogs must be leashed at all times, except while on the premises of Jennings Beach only. At Jennings Beach dogs may be off leash provided they are under the control of the person responsible for them. Dogs shall be prohibited from boardwalks, pavilions and playgrounds. No dog shall be permitted in any park or play lot at anytime.
